Joint mobilization is a manual therapy intervention, a type of passive movement of a skeletal joint. It is usually aimed at a ‘target’ synovial joint with the aim of achieving a therapeutic effect. For example after surgery, whether to the knee, shoulder, wrist or other joint, that area typically is painful and has limited movement. Depending on the type of mobilization the intent may be to decrease pain or improve range of motion.
