Dr. Robert Leland is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over two decades of experience, specializing in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and orthopedic trauma. He is dual fellowship trained and nationally recognized as one of the earliest pioneers of total ankle replacement surgery in the United States.

Dr. Leland joins Holy Cross Orthopedics in Taos through a partnership with inReach Healthcare, where he is committed to expanding access to advanced orthopedic care in rural communities. He treats a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including sports injuries, complex deformities, fractures, arthritis, and bunions, and also provides expert care for general orthopedic trauma.

A graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Leland completed his residency at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center and pursued advanced fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and the University Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden, Germany. Throughout his career, he has served in key leadership and teaching roles, including Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery at Wayne State University and Chief of Orthopedics at the VA Medical Center in Detroit, earning multiple teaching awards.

Dr. Leland is a member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Colorado Medical Society, and the AO Alumni. He is passionate about patient education, believing in empowering patients through clear communication and shared decision-making.

Dr. Leland is now seeing patients at Holy Cross Orthopedics in Taos, bringing cutting-edge orthopedic expertise to the local community.
