First Steps Home Visitor

Holy Cross Medical Center is hiring a full-time Home Visitor to support pregnant women and families with children up to age five. This day-shift Support Services position is based in Taos, New Mexico, and provides culturally sensitive, family-centered services in accordance with Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) Program Standards.

About the Role

The Home Visitor supports families by strengthening parent-child relationships, promoting healthy attachment, and providing trauma-informed guidance. The position helps parents understand prenatal and early childhood development, recognizes each child’s individual needs, and connects families with appropriate community resources and services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally sensitive home visiting services in accordance with ECECD Program Standards
  • Support healthy parent-child relationships and family attachment
  • Provide trauma-informed education and support
  • Help families understand prenatal and early childhood physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Recognize each child’s specific needs and make appropriate referrals
  • Connect families with formal and informal community resources
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and correspondence
  • Protect family privacy and comply with HIPAA requirements

Requirements

  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience in early childhood services and/or social work
  • Education: High school diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE)
  • Certification: Certification in early childhood education, social work, community health work, nursing, or a related field
  • Skills & Qualifications:
    • Strong multicultural understanding and sensitivity
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Strong self-awareness and the ability to provide nonjudgmental, unbiased support to families
    • Ability to maintain records and correspondence in accordance with Program Standards
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and data entry
    • Valid New Mexico driver’s license
    • Knowledge of and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
