Coronary CT Angiogram (CCTA)

A Coronary CT Angiogram, or CCTA, is a noninvasive imaging test that helps doctors look at the blood vessels that supply the heart. It uses a CT scanner and a contrast dye given through a vein to create detailed pictures of the heart and its arteries.

This test can help identify changes in the coronary arteries, such as narrowing or plaque buildup, that may affect blood flow to the heart. It is often used when a doctor needs more information about heart related symptoms, such as chest discomfort, or to better understand a patient’s heart health.

The exam is typically quick and does not require any instruments to be placed into the heart. Patients are able to return to normal activities shortly after the scan.

HeartFlow Plaque Analysis

In some cases, CCTA images may also be used for HeartFlow Plaque Analysis. This advanced CT based analysis provides more information about plaque buildup in the coronary arteries.

The analysis looks at the amount and type of plaque in the arteries and helps doctors better understand overall heart artery health. When combined with other test results and clinical information, it can offer additional insight when more detail is needed.

Your healthcare provider will decide if this analysis is appropriate based on your individual care needs.
