Dr. Robert Leland is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with more than twenty years of experience specializing in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and orthopedic trauma. He is dual fellowship trained and has extensive experience in total ankle replacement surgery.

Dr. Leland provides foot and ankle surgical services at Holy Cross Medical Center through a professional services agreement. He is committed to expanding access to advanced orthopedic care in rural communities and helping patients receive specialty treatment close to home.

He treats a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including sports injuries, complex deformities, fractures, arthritis, bunions, and post traumatic conditions. He also provides care for general orthopedic trauma. His approach emphasizes careful diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, and clear communication so patients understand their options and can participate in shared decision making.

Dr. Leland earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Wayne State University and Detroit Medical Center and pursued advanced fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and at University Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden, Germany.

Throughout his career, Dr. Leland has served in leadership and teaching roles, including Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery at Wayne State University and Chief of Orthopedics at the VA Medical Center in Detroit. He has received multiple teaching awards in recognition of his commitment to medical education.

Dr. Leland is a member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Colorado Medical Society, and the AO Alumni.

He sees patients at Taos Orthopedic Institute, a hospital owned clinic of Holy Cross Medical Center.
