Vestibular Rehabilitation and Balance Retraining

The Vestibular system is the sensory system that provides information used for balance, equilibrium, spatial orientation and movement coordination. Much of this input comes from small structures located in the inner ear. A number of things can cause a disruption in the system leading to vertigo, dizziness, balance loss and nausea. Some of the more common causes include a mechanical disruption of the middle ear canals, a virus, neck problems and vascular disorders. There are other causes and it’s not always possible to definitively diagnose the condition. It can be very disabling. Our qualified Physical Therapists are able to assess the functional deficits and develop a plan of exercises and activities to help you decrease the symptoms and re-establish your desired lifestyle.
