Taos Health Systems has been leasing the current hospital building from the County under a very clear 30-year lease. The Board’s attorney has reviewed the lease and assured us that we are in full compliance of all of the requirements. The lease requires Taos Health Systems to pay for equipment upgrades (e.g. air handlers), all safety requirements, and equipment maintenance expenses – Taos County does not provide any support for maintenance or replacement of facility equipment (e.g. boilers, generator), as a traditional lease agreement would require.
The county does not own or support any of the medical equipment in the building; Taos Health Systems owns and maintains all of its own medical equipment.
- Taos Health Systems has pre-paid Taos County 10 years of rent, with the next payment being due to Taos County in 2023.
