Holy Cross Hospital serves patients both on an outpatient and inpatient basis. The inpatient services are used when a patient requires a stay longer than 12 hours and are for times when patients need to be closely monitored during a procedure and afterwards; as well as during recovery. Our inpatient services include:
The Advanced Care Unit (ACU) is a six bed unit that was formerly the ICU/Observation Unit. Within this unit each bed can function as a ‘Universal Bed’ in which the level of care may be transitioned from a higher acuity Critical Care level of service, to a Medical-Surgical level of care, and ultimately to discharge for the same patient for his/her entire stay.
This has been shown to reduce the number of medication errors and falls in patient care and the nursing staff is familiar with the patient’s plan of care for their entire stay. This also will help reduce the number of transfers of Critical Care patients to other facilities due to only having two ICU beds in the past, now there potentially can be four to six beds for higher acuity patients depending on their illness.
Holy Cross Hospital can still accept patients in Observation status and Medical-Surgical inpatients as usual. It is an exciting step by the hospital to provide care at all levels for as many patients of the community as possible.
The Medical/Surgical Unit is where patients come to recover from a surgical procedure or an illnesses that requires hospitalization.
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff consist of both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who are trained to handle complex medical situations. They work with many other professionals including doctors, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists and physical, occupational and speech therapists, and respiratory therapists in developing a plan for care to fit each individual patient.
Private Rooms – All of our rooms are private
Room Service – Patients at Holy Cross Hospital have the opportunity to order fresh, healthy food through a hotel-like room service experience. Patients can order meals at their convenience, giving them more control over the food they eat during their stay at the hospital.
Communication – We value our communication with both our Patients and their families. We communicate in person as well as with our communication boards. The boards are in all patient rooms. It is where we update the care plan, your providers, medications, and more.
Labor and Delivery – Our family-oriented Holy Cross Birthing Suits offers an innovative birthing concept that is as close to home as you could wish for. They offer a homey environment with an emphasis on keeping the delivery of your baby as comfortable as possible. Holy Cross Hospital provides the best medical expertise and technology, assuring a safe and healthy birth for your child.
Hospitalists Program – Holy Cross Hospital has a 24 hours a day, seven days a week hospitalist program. A Hospitalist is a credentialed Internal Medicine physician, Family Medicine physician or mid-level that specializes in caring for patients who are in the hospital. They do not have a private practice but specialize in inpatient care. Our hospitalists are part of Apogee Physicians, the nation’s leading hospitalist group.
